Organic Products

Successful wood waste recycling companies have developed strong programs in marketing the resulting products. WRR has many years experience in developing this area.

By carefully managing the collection and recycling process, we have been able to produce organic materials for mulch, topsoil, and fuel that have exceeded the competitions’ products in quality or value. In some cases the value of products exceeds the revenue for recycling the material, and this greatly reduces the cost of collection and recycling.

Products from WRR have been tested by the University of Florida for the following benefits:

  • Plant disease prevention

  • Erosion control

  • Control of nematodes

  • Improving cropland productivity

  • Reducing irrigation costs

  • More efficient use of fertilizers

Mulches have been developed that compare favorably with more traditional products such as cypress mulch and pine bark. Recycled mulch from WRR has been used in colored mulch, bagged potting mixes, and specialty soil mixes. Materials processed by WRR’s equipment have been used for making charcoal and other higher value products.

One of the innovations developed by WRR was the use of urban wood by industry, for fuel, fiber, lumber, and other uses. Understanding the needs of the industry for reliable, consistent product, WRR has shipped clean biomass fuel to major markets since 1986. Each ton of wood fuel replaces one barrel of foreign oil, reduces landfilling, and reduces the emission of greenhouse gases.

WRR also regularly separates material and ships components of the waste stream for pulp logs, firewood, barbeque wood for restaurants, lumber, and veneer. WRR continues to develop new and better uses of biomass in order to benefit everyone in the recycling and energy fields.
